Our Classes

We offer several classes on the use of firearms, self-defense, and personal safety.

Carl Woodard, Attorney-at-Law (ret), serves as our legal advisor. Carl brings more than 35 years of experience as a criminal defense lawyer to our classroom.

Basics of Pistol Shooting

This is a one day-class for individuals with or without experience in shooting a handgun. Lunch, snacks, beverages, and free use of guns are included. $100

Personal Protection in the Home

This is a one-day class that meets or exceeds all training requrements to obatain a Michigan Concealed Pistol License (CPL). Lunch, snacks, beverages, and free use of guns are included. $125 Prerequisite: Basics of Pistol Shooting or equivalent knowledge and experience.

Personal Protection Outside the Home

This class delves more deeply into using a handgun for personal protection in public settings. Part A is a one-day class. Part B includes more involved training on the range, and requires a second day. Divided into two parts, A & B, part A meets or exceeds  all training requirements for a Michigan CPL with a No-Carry Zone Exemption. Lunch, snacks, beverages, and free use of guns are included. Part A is $125. Parts A & B are $200. Prerequisite: Personal Protection in the Home

Refuse to be a Victim

This class teaches strategies that people can integrate into their everyday lives to avoid becoming a victim of crime. This is not a firearms instruction class.

First Steps Pistol Orientation

This class is designed to provide a hands-on introduction to the safe handling and proper orientation to one specific pistol action type for classes of four or fewer students. This course is at least three hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot a specific pistol action type. Students will learn safe gun handling; the particular pistol model parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; cleaning the pistol; and continued opportunities for skill development. 

Metallic Cartridge Handloading (aka reloading)

Shotshell Handloading (aka reloading)

I began handloading both metallic cartridges and shotshells in 1971, thus bringing over 50 years of experience to the classroom.

This course delves more deeply into using a handgun for personal protection.  Divided into two parts (A & B), Part A meets or exceeds all training requirements for a Michigan CPL with a No-Carry Zone Exemption. $125 for “A” portion, $200 for A and B (2 days).
